Hemophiliac to Climb Mt. McKinley

June 3, 2014; Posted by: WeBleed staff

Chris Bombardier, 28, is set to climb his fourth mountain to help raise awareness for hemophilia.

Chris Bombardier, a 28 year old hemophiliac (severe hemophilia B) from Denver, Colorado has already climbed 3 of the highest peaked mountains in Africa, Europe and South America.  He plans to become the first person with the bleeding disorder hemophilia to climb the highest peak on each continent in the world – next up is Mt. McKinley, the highest peak in North America, on June 23.

Why is Bombardier doing this? The answer is simple – he is climbing the Seven Summits to help raise awareness for the same bleeding disorder he has, hemophilia, and to raise funds for the charity Save One Life.  What better way than to do that than to do what he loves – climbing.

“Of course I look forward to standing on the summits of these incredible mountains and feeling the accomplishment of doing it with hemophilia,” Chris said. “I want to show young people with hemophilia what’s possible. Our world is an amazing place, and I don’t want people with hemophilia to think they have to live in a bubble. I want them to get out and experience life to the fullest!”
