Mom discusses her experiences during emergency room visits with her son who has hemophilia.
As the mother of a son with hemophilia, Kimberly Haugstad is extremely familiar with infusing her son Ben on a regular basis with factor. She writes on the Hemophilia Federation of America’s blog “Infusing Love: A Mom’s View” about one of her emergency room visits and the many questions she is asked during the visit by the nurse and physician.
– “What type of hemophilia does he have? The regular kind or the A or B? When did he get his hemophilia?”
– “So, he has had a history of hemophilia for several years right? How often do you go in for infusions?”
– “But how exactly did you give factor to him?”
It goes to show that sometimes you need humor to get through the day.
