February 4, 2014; Posted by: WeBleed staff

Local conference discusses advances in achieving zero HIV infections and AIDS related deaths in African countries.

Positive story coming out of Ghana today.

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) released an article stating that West Africans, among the citizens of Africa, are seeing a substantial decrease in HIV infections that usually lead to AIDS related deaths.

Mrs. Lordina Mahama, the First Lady,  stated that Ghana for the past three years has recorded “over 25% decline in new infections among the youth and 76% decrease in new HIV infections among children. This is due to the gradual strengthening of the health system through the establishment of Testing and Counseling Centres, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission and effective HIV treatment Programme.”

There is added partnership among neighboring countries in Africa to continue to work towards achieving no HIV infections and AIDS related deaths.
