Blood Disorder Leads to Special Bond Between Siblings

December 29, 2013; Posted by: WeBleed staff

5-year old Bryce Schueller and his sister Belle have a unique bond beyond just being siblings.  Bell has twice been Bryce’s saving grace – she donated life saving bone marrow to her older brother who suffers from aplastic anemia.

“That was kind of a special thing for me,” Bryce tells Milwaukee’s TMJ4.

Though Bryce is doing well with his second transplant both he and Bell are now home schooled so that his immune system doesn’t become compromised by germs that are often passed around school classrooms.

“A simple cold or flu could send him to the hospital,” explains Steve Schueller, Bryce and Bell’s father.

The Schuellers would like to bring attention to the MACC Fund that has helped their family through this period of trial.

“Is the MACC Fund just research?  No.  The MACC Fund is all encompassing…lets help these kids through the whole process, ” says Charlene Schueller, Bryce and Bell’s mother.
