Haley Brooks was diagnosed with DBA at 18 months.  Her friend Violet Lee decided to get involved with what her friend was going through. She helped to organize a blood and bone marrow drive trying to help her best friend and raise awareness. “I started the foundation to help because she was going through a tough time and it hurt me to see her trying so hard and staying strong.”

Haley recently had a successful bone marrow transplant and is doing well.

Diamond Blackfan anemia (DBA) patients are usually diagnosed within the first year of their life. Potentially, patients can live long and healthy lives with appropriate medical treatment according to Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation, Inc. To learn more about the DBA Foundation, click here.
