Study Shows Taking Aspirin at Bedtime Cuts Platelet Reactivity

Study was presented at the American Heart Association’s 2013 Scientific Sessions, held from Nov. 16–19 in Dallas.

At a recent presentation at the American Heart Association’s 2013 Scientific Sessions, a study concerning aspirin intake at night before bedtime was presented to participants according to EMPR.com and their part concerning platelet activity.

Dr. Tobias Boten, from the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands, summed up the study by saying that “because higher platelet activity contributes to a higher risk of acute heart events, this simple intervention – switching aspirin intake from morning to bedtime – could be beneficial for the millions of patients with heart disease who take aspirin on a daily basis.”

Platelets are an important part of how our blood functions.  If they do not do their job, a person can find themselves not feeling right.
