KOREA – BAYER KOREA STOPS SELLING KOGENATE FS IN COUNTRY

March 24, 2014; Posted by: WeBleed staff

Bayer Korea will stop selling Kogenate FS later this year in Korea due to low global output.

News out of Korea today via The Korea Times is breaking a story stating that Bayer has decided to stop importing the drug (Kogenate FS) manufactured at its U.S. factory because global output has decreased. For those who are unaware, Kogenate FS is a recombinant factor medication used to treat those with hemophilia A.

A Bayer official told the media outlet that the Korea Hemophilia Association was not involved in the decision to stop supplying the drug. An estimated 80-100 people are currently using Kogenate FS in Korea according to the report and the Korea Hemophilia Association did stage a protest to this change earlier in March in front of Bayer’s office in Seoul. Stay tuned as more information becomes available on this story.
