IOWA: Local Blood Drive Set for Child with Neutropenia

October 17, 2014; Posted by: WeBleed staff

Blood drive scheduled for Iowa residents for those affected by neutropenia.

Cool article out of Ottumwa, Iowa today.

A young man, one and a half year old Ryder Arnold, suffers from neutropenia and a blood drive will be held on Tuesday, October 21, for those affected by it.  For those in the Iowa area, the blood drive will be held at the Ottumwa Knights of Columbus Hall from 4-7pm.

Neutrophils help the body fight off infection and neutropenia is the result of too few of these white blood cells.

Ryder’s mom, Ashley, said the following about her son in The Heartland Connection article – “He’s amazing because I know if it was me, I’d be a wimp. I’d be crying all the time, but he’s tough.”
