Illinois – Family Raises Money for Medical Charity

Dave and Shelly Genis first got involved with the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation when their son, Jack, was diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) when he was just 4 years old. Jack experienced fatigue and showed other signs of ITP – a disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding due to low levels of platelets in the blood.

On Saturday, May 17, the family held their 6th annual Jack’s Cupcake/Lemonade Stand at their home in Orland Park to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens diagnosed with conditions ranging from rare blood disorders to cancers in their over 40 hospitals nationwide.

It was a perfect day for the event and the Genis family made $4,200 for the POTCF.  Congrats to both the family and the charity.
