Georgia: Man Suing Delta Airlines Over DVT

Interesting story coming out of Georgia. According to a report from WSB-TV Channel 2 Atlanta’s Diana Davis, a man is suing Delta Airlines over a blood clot he developed in his legs called deep vein thrombosis, or DVT.  Jordan Pajares was on a non-stop flight from Peru to Atlanta that ended up totaling over 12 hours.

“Numbness first, then I realized that my feet were swelling,” Pajares said. “My veins in both legs were popped out like varicose veins and I was like, ‘This is not normal, this is weird.”

Pajares told the Delta flight attendant about his uneasiness and pain but the attendant would not let him get up and walk around to help him increase blood flow to his legs. about the unusual activity happening to his body, but the flight attendant would not let him get up and move except for one trip to the bathroom. Due to this inactivity for a long period of time, Pajares developed a DVT.  He began coughing up blood a few days after the flight and hospital doctors said a blood clot in his leg formed during the long flight. The clot lodged in Pajares’ lungs and almost killed him.

Diana Davis called Delta for a response to the lawsuit that Mr. Pajares is bringing against them but Delta was unable to comment on current litigation.  WeBleed will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
