What Your Blood Type May Be Telling You

Researchers find link between blood type and health risk.

Do you currently experience health issues in your life? As it turns out, according to an article by CBS Seattle yesterday, there may be a direct correlation between what blood type you are and what health problem you may be at risk for exhibiting.  The article summarizes these specific blood types the following way:

  • Type A – may be at higher risk for heart disease
  • Type B – may be at higher risk for throat cancer
  • Type AB – may be higher risk for memory loss

“They found that, yes, people with AB and higher levels of the clotting factor probably had a higher risk of developing cognitive impairment,” says Dr. Ali Atri, a memory disorder specialist at Mass General. “There seems to be a bit of smoke there. I don’t think we’ve found the source of the fire. But there’s definitely something that elevates our risk with certain types of blood types.”

A majority of people are unaware of their blood type – a good time to find out yours is the next time you donate blood.
