The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) has elected Jami Gattuso, MSN RN, CPON to serve as its president. She was elected at the association’s annual conference this past September in Louisville, KY. She will serve as president through 2015.
A member of APHON for over 20 years, Gattusso has served on various committees since 1993 and has been a member of the board of directors. Currently she is a nursing research specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN and has been with St. Jude since 1986. She was also a contributing author to the second edition of Essentials of Pediatric Oncology Nursing.
“I am so excited about the future of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses,” Gattuso said in a press release picked up by NewsWise. “Our membership works tirelessly to provide support to nurses who care for pediatric, adolescent and young adult hematology and oncology patients, and their families, so that they can provide the very best care to them.”
