Man with Hemophilia Advocates For His Life

June 9, 2014; Posted by: WeBleed staff

Actor, advocate and hemophiliac Patrick James Lynch, writes an open and direct letter to health care organization handling his care.

An interesting story developed over the weekend regarding a young man’s hemophilia factor medication and the integrated managed care system handling his care.  For those readers who do not know, Patrick James Lynch is an advocate for hemophiliacs everywhere.  He blogs, presents on and creates/produces content to better raise awareness for hemophilia and has been an active member of the bleeding disorders community for many years.

He recently posted his own experience with a managed care company called Kaiser Permanente.  In this new post, he explains the lengths he has had to go to fight for his care as well as the many people he has spoken with regarding how important a hemophiliac’s factor medication truly is.  In true grass roots fashion, Lynch blogged on his website – patrickjameslynch.com – and then shared the open letter he wrote with the public in order for people to truly get a better understanding of what he is going through.  The results were astounding – on social media alone, his story has been shared time and time again over the past few days and has become viral.  With his push and tech savvy, this is not just a small, personal issue anymore – it is an issue that affects those directly living with hemophilia.

Here is a snippet quote of what Lynch’s letter  incorporates outlining his personal struggle against Kaiser Permanente – “I am fortunate: I am educated, articulate, outspoken, single and work from home.  I have had the time to fight through the life-threatening stupidity and negligence that Kaiser Permanente seemingly wears on its sleeve.”

WeBleed is pleased to offer the direct link to Lynch’s open letter – Hemophiliacs: Kaiser Permanente Will Let You Die.
