Thalassaemia Awareness & Prevention in Pakistan (TAPP) recently organized a corporate seminar to create awareness for the most common genetic disorder in Pakistan, thalassaemia.
Unknown to many around the world, the genetic disease most associated with those living in Pakistan is thalassaemia. Thalassaemia is an inherited blood disorder and occurs when the genes received from one’s parents before birth can determine whether a person will have thalassaemia.
Thalassaemia Awareness & Prevention in Pakistan (TAPP) recently presented suggestions to Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTCL) staff. In order to create better awareness among the public, PTCL should contribute their efforts by printing public service message on their Telephone bills, broadcasting public service messages on Smart TV, telephone inquiries and help lines so our future generations could be saved from this deadly disease.
“Prevention is better than a cure, instead of spending million and billions on treatment, we should create awareness and prevent this dreaded disease, get tested, before it tests you”, Ms. Ayesha Abid, President TAPP, told The Nation.
