Montana – Young Girl Thanks Her Donors

Bria Koch, a 7 year old suffering from a rare bleeding disorder, thanks those who have helped her by donating blood.
Diamond–Blackfan anemia is a rare blood disorder affecting 1 in 1,000 people. 7 year old Bria Koch is one of those people. A strict regimen of steroids, blood transfusions and/or bone marrow transplants are currently the only treatment options. Since she was 7 weeks old, Bria has received a blood transfusion every three or four weeks to manage her condition.
After a blood transfusion, Bria told the Billings Gazette, “I’m not tired anymore,” and goes on living the life of a 7 year old until she needs another transfusion.
Since Bria was a very young child her parents have been trying to make sure people know how significant it is when they donate blood. When she was 5 and her dad was giving blood at United Blood Services, the little girl began walking around thanking people for their donations. She has every since.
