New Study Shows Blood Clot Risks in Hospitalized Children

Researches from from the Division of Pediatric Hematology at Johns Hopkins University discover rare clotting disorder, venous thromboembolism (VTE), in hospitalized children according to recent study.
The rare clotting disorder, venous thromboembolism (VTE), was recently analyzed and broken down in the effects it has on children according to a report from dailyRXNews. Researchers under the direction of Clifford M. Takemoto, MD at Johns Hopkins University, analyzed over 90,000 records and identified 270 cases of VTE between 1994 and 2009.
Dr. Takemoto and his team concluded that the overall risk for VTE in the general population is small, but also important that doctors are aware of patients with multiple risk factors.

- Gender
- Weight
- Mobility
- Prior infection
- Post surgery
